Ashanti (now part of Ghana)
British Nationality could be obtained through your birth, or through the birth of any one of your parents or grandparents, in Ashanti. This arises because of Britain's relationship with Ghana and its Colonial history.

Prior to Independence on 06.03.1957, Ghana was made of four different territories. From this date up until the present day, Ghana was a independent Commonwealth country.
Ashanti
From 1896 until 1901, Ashanti was a British Protectorate.
Between 1901 and 31.12.1948, Ashanti fell within the Crown's Dominions.
Between 01.01.1949 and 05.03.1957, it fell with the UK and Colonies.
