New Zealand - Passport & Nationality - New Zealand Citizenship (Naturalisation)
Passport through Residency is obtained by continuous residency (or Permanant Residency) in New Zealand for 5 years. After 5 years of Permanant Residency in New Zealand, an applicant can lodge a valid New Zealand Nationality application. This will result in New Zealand Citizenship and the right to hold a New Zealand Passport.
The types of visa or immigration status that count towards the 5 continuous years of NZ residency include:
- Skilled and Work visas
- Business and Investment visas
- Partner and Family visas
The types of visa or immigration status that DO NOT count towards the 5 continuous years of NZ residency include:
- Study Visas
- Working Holiday Visas
- Visitor Visas
- Australian Passport Holders
