British Nationality could be obtained through your birth, or through the birth of any one of your parents or grandparents, in Gibralter. This arises because of Britain's relationship with Gibralter and Britain's Colonial history.

STATUS OF GIBRALTER

From 1713 up to 31.12.1948, Gibralter fell within the Crown’s Dominions. From 01.01.1949 until 31.12.1982, they fell within the UK and Colonies. From 01.01.1983 until the present day, it was a British Dependent Territory.

Spain has had a long-standing dispute with the UK over sovereignty and claim Gibralter is part of Spain.
