Ireland - Family & Partner - Family Reunification Permit
A family member in this case is defined as a spouse and unmarried children below the age of 18. Minor refugees can apply to be reunited with their parents. Other family members may also apply, but clear indication of dependency must be shown and the decision is at the discretion of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
The family member living abroad should make the visa application at his local Irish Embassy or Consular Office. If there is no Irish Embassy in the country or the person for whom the visa is required is unable to make the application, then the visa application can be made through the Visa Office of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service, Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
Family members of migrant workers
Work permit holders may be able to bring their family (spouse and minor dependent children) to Ireland after they have been legally working for 1 year on a work permit. They will have to be able to show that you will be able to support them. Green card permit holders may apply to have their spouse and/or minor dependent children join once they have obtained the Green Card permit.
You should apply for family reunification to the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS). Your spouse and dependents aged under 18 may apply for a spousal/dependent work permit once they are legally resident in Ireland on the basis of being your spouse or dependent. These permits are granted for any occupation without the requirement of a labour market needs test.
