South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands
STATUS OF SOUTH GEORGIA AND SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS
The Falkland Islands include the South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands.
Up to 31.12.1948, these islands were within the British Crown Dominions.
Between 01.01.1949 and 02.03.1962, the islands were within the UK and Colonies. From 03.03.1962 until 31.12.1982, they remained with the UK and Colonies, but with South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands becoming Dependencies. Argentina dispute sovereignty over these islands, an issue that precipitated the Falklands War.
