United Kingdom - flag United Kingdom - Work Skills & Ancestry - Global Talent Visa

The Global Talent visa represents the UK 's commitment to attract the very best talents in their field to practice in the UK. It includes leaders in their fields and those who show exceptional promise. Currently, this covers the below-mentioned sectors;

 - academia or research
 - arts and culture
 - digital technology

The Global Talent visa replaces the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) Visa and currently requires an endorsement from a pre-selected, UKVI-approved Endorsing Body. Such bodies are usually leaders or regulators in their field.

Depending on how one has been endorsed, a successful applicant is issued a 3 or 5 year visa to move and work in the UK. However, some candidates do not need an endorsement if they have won an eligible award for their work. A list of what awards are eligible can be supplied on request as it is updated regularly at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/global-talent-eligible-prize-list

This visa route leads Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK either at 3 years or 5 years depending on how and who has issued the endorsement. Usually those who have won an eligible prize should qualify at the three year point.

Lastly, dependents such as spouses, unmarried partners and children are able to join successful applicants on this visa route to the UK. A child must be under 18 years of age unless they are already in the UK as a dependent on the applicant's visa.

WhatPassport.com is a specialist UK Nationality and British Citizenship site offering an online search and assessment. Claims to hold a British Passport can be complex and the site offers a quick, simple search to give you the answers. While many people qualify for the UK Ancestry Visa based on holding a Commonwealth passport with a UK born grandmother or grandfather, we have found that if you have a grandparent born in the UK, or if your mother is British or your father is British, then there are several scenarios where you can claim British Nationality and the right to hold a British Passport. This stems from Britain’s collection of British Colonies, British Protectorates and British Protected States in the middle of last century and the Nationality rules concerning what are now the countries of the Commonwealth.
