A minor can obtain British citizenship through the process of Registration at the same time as one or both of their parents are applying for Naturalisation as a British Citizen.

For clarity, the criteria are:

  • A minor (under the age of 18);
  • One (or both) parent(s) become eligible for Naturalisation.

Please note; this is strictly speaking at the discretion of the Secretary of State, though it is almost always granted.
